Actually planned on posting on the declining state of civility in our society..BUT it is on my heart to blog about drinking and driving..For a multitude of reasons; but I’m going to blame it on the many commercials I’ve seen this season. (Like the pic of the one I posted..) Combine that with the fact that I’m a people loving social butterfly that cares about people..>>
So cheers to all of y’all who will go out & have a good time tonight bringing the New Year IN..Hopefully you’ll have read this(or anything else on the topic) and designate a driver first. Arrange to travel in groups & hire a cab beforehand to and from the party..There are cities with programs implemented tonight to call & arrange a tow/ride after drinking..BUT whose going to remember that after they’re drunk?!? Whatever the case remember REAL friends care enough to take keys or etc, etc.yada yada..I’ll read/write y’all next year! It IS almost 2014..Woooo hoooooo..Have fun safely & stay blessed! 4ever Sincere, Berna(the 1 & Only)

Drink and drive 35 years and by grace of God never hurt myself or injured or killed someone else. Clean and sober now 11 years and 10 months.

Praise God ! I’ve got my hand raised UP high for the amount of years I did IT also..And oh what fun I thought I was having; and did have actually..As did my friends who also were all big on the social circuit and circles..New Years Eve was a MAJOR time for parties as were the Christmas holidays..Party after party after party and most of them also with same circles I worked with..I’d not been able to live with myself nor look in the mirror had I ever maimed or injured or killed another person..Thankfully! that isn’t the reason I stopped drinking socially..I’m in digit numbered years also since I drank; so drinking and driving isn’t an issue for me anymore..However, as I look back ? I realize what an EASY and intelligent decision it ‘would’ have been had me/my friends designated a driver first! Or arranged for a cab first ..Wasn’t the IN thing to do back then..but then again nor is ‘not drinking’ these days..So there is no excuse that we didn’t arrange a driver first..Now that I’m a designated driver for life; I don’t judge anyone..Can’t! cause I used to do it..But I do offer to take keys and driver or sober someone up first or drive for them. And guess what??? I’m still! a dancing machine even sans drinking when I go hang out..It is a major myth a person can’t have fun without drinking just cause everyone else does..If nothing else I have MORE fun now & no hangover the next morning 🙂

I’m glad you brought the new year in safely and in good spirits/health…Plus, plus, and bonus! I brought it in laughing and talking alongside the two people that brought me into this world..While also watching fireworks and at midnight? Somehow I managed to connect (thank God for TEXT cause it has its great uses at times..) with about 50 of the most important folks in my life anddddd talked to someone who I believe, in my heart of hearts, is my ‘the ONE’..Now I’m praying God finds a way to bridge the 3,500 miles between us..All in all this year is off to a fabulous start..Yay!

I was exactly where I was supposed to be at the start of a brand new year..But do tell! What good eats did you eat? Were you at the party you mentioned? Or were you on an exotic beach doing something exotic?
